Antique Furniture Restoration
Furniture restoration has been an integral part of
the business from the beginning. We are able to restore pieces from
the very rough to the more cosmetic repairs.
Many pieces, over the years, have come to us which have had a
history of poor repair work carried out on them, we are often asked
to replace such work with the skills we practice in veneer,
construction, marquetry, carving, colour matching and polishing. We
are usually able to find matching wood & veneer from our stocks to
match original materials.
We specialise in copying dining chairs to make up
sets, some examples can be seen in
In the Making. Some solid
timber, such as Cuban Mahogany, has not been available for more than
100 years, so we find alternatives that when coloured and polished
match well.
The work we do is always carried out in our workshop
so quality is assured. We are able to go out and look at potential
work but a charge is made if a job is not procured. Advice and cost
is given without charge when bought in for assessment. High value
items coming in for repair - we ask the customer to check and be
sure the item is covered by their own insurance whist away from
their care.
